Get out of your head

Recently, for the first time in a long time, I was forced to overcome my lack of motivation.

I wasn’t able to exercise properly due to injury, and I was dealing with a lot of emotional turmoil. What I realised was the only thing that was going to lift me up again, was myself and my faith.

You cannot depend on others to inspire you or motivate you at all times, it’s just not fair to them, or to you. The word motivation has almost become a detrimental word, that make people feel inadequate. So we’ll change the word for purposes of this post.

Instead we’ll just say, getting yourself up again. We all face obstacles in life, and that will always be the case. No one is just living the perfect life. We have moments where we cannot necessarily say that our health is a priority, but I want to change that mind-set. Being healthy, equips us to deal with our obstacles with a clear mind and a clear heart. Making better decisions and reacting better to our turmoil.

I am not saying you have to go now and run a marathon, or eat a diet of lettuce and cucumber. What I am saying, is that by living in a way that is good for “YOU”, looking after yourself, eating balanced meals, including all your food groups, unless you have an allergy, even trying something like pilates or yoga that is lower impact. Keeping your mind stimulated by reading about things that are of interest to you, is a great way to distract yourself from your obstacles, even if it’s only for a little while.

You don’t need to look like an Instagram model or influencer to be happy. Stop looking at Instagram if it makes you unhappy! Eliminate the things that don’t bring you joy. Fill your life with positive things, people and keep yourself busy with constructive stuff. Find a group of like-minded people and plan something with them, whether it be a swimming group or a book club. Make an effort to spend time with others and look away from yourself for just a moment.

We tend to live into our own lives. The world is sometimes an extremely self-obsessed situation, don’t become a prisoner to this, look where you can mean something to someone else. Even if it’s smiling at someone who might be having a bad day. We are so much more than just ourselves.

Spend time with family and friends. Laugh and cry, weirdly enough. This is amazing therapy, get those emotions that are holding you back out! They deserve no place in your heart. I don’t know about you, but my God wants me to be happy, carefree, and live a life that is positive. Yes, it’s not always possible, we have heartache, loss and so many other things that cause us to lose hope. Please don’t allow that to happen.

I don’t know who needs to read or hear this! But I do hope that somewhere out there someone grabs onto the hope of this message.
